I love seeing God’s presence change lives! Crowds. Masses. I loved watching Sunday night as teens at COLLIDE (our monthly student ministry service) lined from one side to the other weeping and reaching out to Jesus. I loved last July when we baptized over 90 individuals in one afternoon as their family and friends cheered them on from the banks.
The danger is that some times we discredit the power of the 2nd touch. Jesus felt compelled to meet a lady, just one, at a well….5 failed marriages, a current live-in lover, a broken heart, a skewed view of church – Jesus said “I really need to go to Samaria and see her”. I’m glad he didn’t take attendance that day.
The story goes on to tell us:
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people,
29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”
30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
What if the power of the momentous miracle is in the 2nd touch?
What if that one person on your job, in your neighborhood, on your team…..what if that one exchange student, the one senior, the one student…..will change a city? Will impact a region? Will be a world changer?
Don’t limit your energy and efforts to the initial touch only! Don’t assume the crowd is always the right place to start! Sometimes your behind the scenes “well ministry” is going to go down in history!
Don’t discredit the potential and power of the 2nd touch!
